The Western State Colorado University track and field program is excited to host a postseason clinic and competition for high school athletes Saturday, May 30, at Mountaineer Bowl on the campus of Western State Colorado University in Gunnison. The clinic and competition is a perfect opportunity for athletes that are looking to brush up on technical work leading up to the Great Southwest Track & Field Classic, June 4-6 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, or for those looking to work on non-traditional events. The event will include technical demonstrations from 10:30-noon that Saturday and will also include a mini meet from 2-4 p.m. in the following events: hammer throw, high jump, 400-meter hurdles, javelin throw and the 2000-meter steeplechase. Check-in time for the event will be held from 9:30-10 a.m. before the Mountaineer coaching staff and student-athletes welcome those in attendance at 10 a.m. Before the mini meet begins, athletes will also be able to eat lunch on their own from 12-2 p.m. Costs for the clinic, an entry into the mini meet and a T-shirt is $55 while the price for those athletes interested in just the competition portion of the event is $30.
